Banner experiments (2)

I didn't go to class tonight, I thought it would be better to stay at home and do some anarchic experimenting on my project (I was also still a bit rough from my exuberant St Patrick's Day celebrations if truth be told).

I began by having another look at the banner. I searched for ways to make the blue sky blend from one colour to another.

After some exasperating attempts to work the gradient option I got lucky.

By chance I double clicked on the gradient rectangle at the top of the screen and found myself in Gradient Editor.

I played around with this tool and was very happy with the effect I managed to put on the banner (sky blue to dark blue).

I then added a layer and devised a sun (see below). To produce the rays - which will be tidied up at a later date - I used the pen tool and then created a path, which I then filled.

Still experimenting but I think I can see some progress.

I have a feeling that once I've cracked the banner the rest of the site will fall into line. I have so many ideas at the moment I don't know if I'm coming or going.

Later...

It might be a good idea to make the sun an animation and add that to the banner. Just a thought.

I also played around with some nice gradient colours, it's quite addicitve, colour therapy methinks!

It might also be a good idea, if the chance presents itself, to use the gradient editor as background to some of the pages I produce.
